Symbols of Guantánamo
The Cemi, known as an idol of tobacco was found in Gran Tierra de Maisí. It is recognized among the oldest relics in the country and one of the most valuable of the Antilles. It has been taken as a symbol of the rebellious heritage of the Guamá and Hatuey caciques.
La Fama, female figure of a deity who, through a bugle, announces the good and bad news. It is located in front of the place where the sun rises first, alluding to the geographical location of the easternmost province of Cuba.
