The International Film and Television School (ESCTV) is consider as one of the most important institutions in the audiovisual training in the world. It was created by the Latin American Filmmakers Committee as headquarter of the New Latin American Film with the support of the Government of the Republic of Cuba. It was opened on December 15th, 1986.

It was originally conceived for students from Latin America, Africa and Asia, the EICTV put into practice the teaching philosophy of «learn by doing», with professors that are active filmmakers and teach their knowledge supported on the everyday exercise and experience. Nowadays, its enrolment is open for those all over the world who are interested in the audiovisual matter. Thousands of professionals and students of more than 50 countries have been in its classrooms, which has turned this institution into a space for the cultural diversity. It has its headquarter nearby San Antonio de los Baños town, in the province of the same name, on the top of a wide plain in the natural area. The institution is at an hour away from Havana’s downtown area and 25 minutes from José Martí International Airport.
